Trump’s Comments Of US Role In 5G 'Clear And Correct': Huawei
While stressing its market position of being a global leader in smartphone manufacturing, Chinese telecom giant Huawei lauded the latest comments made by United States President Donald Trump about the future of U.S. mobile communications on Sunday.

These comments from the Chinese company were made as trade negotiators from U.S. and China met for the sixth straight day to discuss and iron out trade issues between the two countries before the March 1 deadline for the setting of additional trade tariffs on Chinese products by the US. It has been over seven months that the two countries have been embroiled in a trade dispute which has shaken up global trade and commerce systems and slowed down the global economy.

Chinese company Huawei has found itself in the cross fire of the trade war as the comp[any has been accused by the US of violating its sanctions on Iran, theft of intellectual property and its equipment being possibly used by Chinese agencies for spying on the West.

Huawei Chairman Guo Ping, while speaking just a day before the largest mobile industry event in Barcelona, stressed against that the company had never engaged and would also not engage in the future in any activities related to any country spying using its equipment.

Trump had recently commented through a series of tweets that the US should competition should be the basis for the country moving ahead in mobile communications instead of seeking to shut its doors to outside companies. Guo, who is also a rotational chairman of the company, said that the comments of Trump were “clear and correct”m even though the comments did not mentioned Huawei’s name in the tweets. However, his comments clearly indicated a change of stance of the US president which is softer than this earlier stance in which his administration has banned Huawei out of the country and prevented it from doing business in the US because of alleged national security reasons.

“I have noticed the president’s Twitter, he said that the U.S. needs faster and smarter 5G, or even 6G in the future, and he has realized that the U.S. is lagging behind in this respect, and I think his message is clear and correct,” Guo said.

While mentioning that US stance was not representative of the entire world, he gave a call to all telecom equipment makers, network operators and governments to function together to find out ways to create trustworthy standards for adequate management and resolution of risks to cyber security.

“We need to have unified standard that should be verifiable. It should not be based on politics,” Guo said.

The company is set to unveil a folding 5G smartphone in Barcelona which is an attempt of Huawei to strongly state its market position of a leader in the world of technology.

Because of its capacity to develop 5G networks, it was in a leading position in manufacturing of 5G enabled smartphones which is the latest mobile network technology offering very fast internet speeds, said Huawei, which the ;leading telecom equipment manufacturer in the world as well as the second largest smartphone vendor in the world after Samsung.
