The Most Common Side Effects After Receiving Covid-19 Vaccine Listed By America’s CDC
Data about the most common side effects reported by Americans after taking shots of the Covid-19 vaccine from Pfizer or Moderna was released by the United States’ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently.

The data and the conclusions from it were based on the first month of the vaccinations which took place between December 14 and January 13 in which more than 13.7 million doses of the vaccines were administered.

Reports of the so-called adverse events after vaccination were reported by 6,994 people that included 6,354 reports that were classified as “non-serious” while 640 were classified as “serious” and included 113 deaths, the agency said in its report. According to the VAERS data

According to the VAERS data, the median age of the recipients of the vaccines was 42 years while women accounted for the majority of the adverse impacts because of the vaccine.

A list of the most commonly reported side effects of being administered the Covid-19 vaccine was also released by the CDC.

The data was collected using the text messaging system v-safe of the agency as well as the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System set up by it which is a national level program for vaccine safety surveillance.

According to the CDC, headache, fatigue and dizziness, followed by chills and nausea were the most common side effects reported by people after being administered the vaccines. Problems of muscle aches, fever, joint pain and pain at the injection site were also reported by the people, the CDC said.

According to the v-safe data, more frequent reactions were reported after the second dose than the first in the case of the Pfizer vaccine. Following the second dose, the rate of fever and chills as reported by the recipients of the vaccine were more than four times higher compared to such reporting after the first dose, the CDC said.

Anaphylaxis, a severe and potentially life-threatening allergic reaction, was reported by 46 people administered the Pfizer vaccine while the same was reported by 16 people who were administered the Moderna vaccine, stated the CDC report.

The reporting of adverse health effects for the Covid-19 vaccine were similar in range to that reported by people after taking the influenza vaccine, the agency said.

The agency further said in the report that of the total number of 113 deaths that were reported of people who received the vaccine, two thirds were reported about people who resided in long-term care facilities.

It is common to have health side effects after a vaccine and such side effects actually indicate that a vaccine is working, medical experts say. There are many doctors who are also advising patients to be ready to face a few stronger-than-usual side effects after taking the Covid-19 vaccine – particularly after taking the second shot.

There can be side effects of their Covid-19 vaccine that can be similar to those experienced by people in mild cases of the disease which may include muscle pain, chills and headache, both Pfizer and Moderna have acknowledged. Even though the side effects can be unpleasant for people, the safety of the vaccines has been reiterated by physicians.
