Tesla Has Reduced US Prices For The Sixth Time This Year

Tesla Inc. reduced pricing for certain of its Model Y and Model 3 electric vehicles in the United States, according to information posted on its website late on Tuesday. This is the sixth time this year that Tesla Inc. has done so in the United States due to worries about the impact on its profit margins.

The pricing of Tesla's 'long range' and 'performance' Model Y vehicles have been reduced by $3,000 apiece, and the price of its'rear-wheel drive' Model 3 has been reduced by $2,000 to $39,990.

The Elon Musk-led firm has reduced the base Model 3 and Model Y pricing in the United States by 11% and 20%, respectively, so far this year. These price cuts come as the company's biggest market, the United States, is ready to impose stricter regulations that will restrict EV tax credits. Additionally, the business recently reduced prices in Europe, Israel, Singapore, Japan, Australia, and South Korea, extending a discounting campaign it began in China in January to boost demand.

However, Tesla only announced a 4% sequential increase in first-quarter deliveries earlier this month, significantly less than the 17.8% sequential increase in the fourth quarter.

In addition, the drastic price cuts have sparked doubts about the Austin, Texas-based business's leading industry profit margins.

Although analysts expect Tesla to post a first-quarter revenue gain of 24.2% year over year to $23.29 billion, the average profit estimate has decreased by around 2.4% over the past three months, according to data from Refinitiv.

Through Tuesday, the price of Tesla's shares has increased by little under 50% for the year.
