Case Filed By Tesla Investor Against Firm, Musk And Company Board Over Charges Of Workplace Discrimination

Case Filed By Tesla Investor Against Firm, Musk And Company Board Over Charges Of Workplace Discrimination
A Tesla Inc shareholder has filed a law suit the electric car company, Chief Executive Elon Musk, and its board, accusing them of failing to address workplace discrimination and harassment allegations and creating a "toxic working atmosphere."

The lawsuit filed on Thursday is the latest against Tesla, which has previously been accused of racial discrimination and sexual harassment in its facilities.

"Tesla has created a toxic workplace culture grounded in racist and sexist abuse and discrimination against its own employees," the investor, Solomon Chau, said.

"This toxic work environment has gestated internally for years, and only recently has the truth about Tesla's culture emerged," he added in the complaint.

"Tesla's toxic workplace culture has caused financial harm and irreparable damage to the company's reputation."

There was no comment from Tesla available on the issue.

The lawyers for Chau, Kendall Law Group PLLC, were unavailable after regular U.S. business hours. Tesla has stated that company does not tolerate discrimination and has taken actions to address employee complaints.

The lawsuit accuses the defendants – Musk, 11 Tesla board members, and the company – of neglecting to confront and rectify red signs about internal reports of discrimination and harassment.

According to the lawsuit, this prompted Tesla to lose high-quality personnel and incur fees for defending charges and settling fines for infractions.
