Apologies To Thai Cave Rescuer Tendered By Elon Musk On Tweeter

Apologies To Thai Cave Rescuer Tendered By Elon Musk On Tweeter
After an offending comment on Twitter against a Briton who led a rescue team engaged in the rescue of a group of boys and their football coach trapped in a cave in Thailand last week, the tech entrepreneur Elon Musk has apologised to the individual. Musk had called the man - Vernon Unsworth, a “pedo” in a tweet.

Vernon Unsworth had earlier said that he was “astonished and very angry” about the comment from such a man and announced his intention of contemplating legal action against Musk.

Musk had initially made the comment in response to a comment by Unsworth about the offer of tech entrepreneur and founder of electric car maker Tesla of a mini-submarine to help in the rescue. Unsworth had questioned the useful ness of the machine on Tweeter. Musk had deleted the comment earlier this week. Musk has also deleted another tweet where he had said: “Bet ya a signed dollar it’s true.”

In response to a query from another Twitter user, Musk issued an apology to Unsworth on Wednesday. In the apology he said: “My words were spoken in anger after Mr Unsworth said several untruths & suggested I engage in a sexual act with the mini-sub, which had been built as an act of kindness & according to specifications from the dive team leader.”

He added: “Nonetheless, his actions against me do not justify my actions against him, and for that I apologize to Mr Unsworth and to the companies I represent as leader. The fault is mine and mine alone.”

He was aware that Musk had tendered an apology to him, Unsworth told the media but did not make any comments one whether he would be willing to come to a settlement in his proposed legal suit against the tech entrepreneur.

The comments that had been made by Musk on tweeter about him were in fact a direct attack on the entire rescue team, Unsworth had told journalists earlier at the cave site where the rescue operation was being undertaken and where a clean up process is now going on. “I believe he’s called me a paedophile,” he said. “I think people realise what sort of guy [Musk] is”, Unsworth had said.

Asked if he would consider taking legal action against Musk, he told reporters: “Yes, it’s not finished.”
